FreQuently Asked Questions
Let's get you in as soon as possible! Dates cannot be held until both a signed contract and retainer are in place. Last minute bookings are no issue provided I have it open, but there is no guarantee.
With on-location, I come to you! You can relax at your home, venue, or hotel without having to worry about adding additional transportation time to your event.
Yes, as a military wife I know how this can be all too well. Everything can be done remotely up until your event.
Any event you can think of! While I mostly do weddings, don't forget all of the other wedding related events, such as engagement parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, showers, and rehearsal dinners. Other popular events have been birthday parties, photoshoots, headshots, baby showers, holiday parties, corporate events, work parties, military balls, or even makeup for you as a guest going to someone else’s wedding.
Getting Started
I am committed to using only high end and professional brands I trust to deliver you the most long-lasting application while suiting all skin types and tones. My kit evolves as the cosmetic industry develops new formulas, with my focus on safety in ingredients and manufacturing. I will not list specific products here as I am not interested in publicly tying myself to a brand, but I am happy to discuss with you further if you have specific concerns.
Absolutely. Being correctly color matched should never be a concern in a professional setting and it will always be a priority of mine to have products that accommodate everyone (and know how to use them!)
Most of my products are specifically meant for sensitive skin and I avoid common irritants. Using only products that are cruelty-free and vegan is very doable with my kit. I cannot make specific promises without knowing all of the details, but I have successfully been able to navigate every allergy I've encountered. However, I cannot avoid what I don't know, so if you have unknown makeup sensitivities I highly suggest getting an allergy test and doing a makeup preview well in advance of your event.
Regardless of the lipstick finish you choose, I have a sample container so that you may take some with you! Lipsticks that are meant to be ultra long lasting are often also drying, a finish that is usually not preferred in Colorado. The products I use should usually only require a touch up after eating.
There are many different thoughts that professional makeup artists have on airbrush, so whether an artist has told you airbrush is good for all skin types or only specific ones-- believe them! We have all learned different methods.
The method I use is a hybrid method: it goes on top of your traditional makeup as a finish. In this way, I am not only able to offer it to anyone of any skin type, but there is a little more coverage than airbrush alone provides. I can adjust the coverage underneath to suit each person's needs and I have tested that all the products work together beautifully.
With hybrid method, airbrush is an add-on. It takes a little longer but provides an extra experience and that airbrush finish that so many love. The traditional makeup I use can also be made to be any consistency and just as lasting, so ultimately it comes down to personal preference as to whether you want to allot extra budget and time towards experiencing airbrush.
I can remove the redness and discoloration from blemishes and healed scars* with color correcting and concealing, however, regular makeup does not cover skin texture and raised skin may still be noticeable. Open skin, such as cuts or recent burns from sun exposure or waxing, are not able to be safely covered to avoid infection.
*Some scars may require consultation for coverage. If you have a concave scar, there is a product I could order to temporarily fill it, but due to quick expiration this is not something I keep on hand.
Tattoo coverage can be expensive and time consuming. Depending on size and color, it could cost and take as much time as a full face or more. If it is something you are willing to invest in, please send pictures of the tattoo you wish to be covered before your makeup preview so we can discuss further.
I want the very best for you for your event, and when it comes to hair that just isn't me. I have worked with many skilled hairstylists and would be happy to recommend one that is right for you.
About the Makeup
I highly encourage doing a preview, especially before a wedding. It is very important for me to learn your preferences and vision, and miscommunications on the day of your event could create unnecessary stress. In situations where time constraints do not allow for a preview, we will discuss your vision as extensively as time allows via phone or email.
Because of discussion and additional changes, makeup previews usually take about two hours.
If the preview is in your space, all I need is access to a table and a working outlet. You may wish to bring an inspiration photo, but we can just as easily collaborate on a look for you without one. Everything else needed I provide.
Of course! Although I do not recommend having more than two people— I want to know what you like and what you think, which can become confusing with too many opinions and distractions while requiring more time. If you have other members of your party who also want a preview for your wedding or event, let me know, especially if you'd like them scheduled on the same day.
Your makeup preview should be all about you! It can be hard to focus on yourself when you are actively caring for others. If having them with you is unavoidable, consider having someone there who can take care of their needs while you get pampered.
Your Makeup Preview
This is entirely your choice. If you plan on using a bridal suite or conference room, make sure you have a discussion with your venue or hotel about what time we are able to get started. If we need to start earlier than they open (based on size of your party and time you need to be ready) you may want to make arrangements for a hotel room, getting ready at your home, or the home of a nearby friend or family member.
Please come in with clean, fresh faces. You are welcome to use your skin care to not disrupt your morning routine, but please note that I will start the service by removing anything that hasn't soaked in with a micellar water pad so that it does not interfere with my products.
As with your makeup preview, I will bring everything we need for your makeup application; all I need is access to a table and an electrical outlet. You and your attendants may wish to bring inspiration pictures but they are not required.
I like to schedule an hour per person. It may or may not take that long, but this way we have plenty of time for advanced requests, distractions, sanitation in between each person, finding lost bridesmaids, and any other disturbances that may arise. Days where you are surrounded by so much love can often become a little hectic, so let's plan ahead!
Anyone that you would like to include is welcome to get their makeup done. From flower girls to guests to groomsmen-- all are welcome. Depending on time frame and number of attendants, we may need to discuss adding an assistant or second artist.
Especially in large parties, the bride or event VIP should never go last. Second to last, or close to last, will give you plenty of time to get in your event attire and not stress while I finish the rest of your party. If you decide on last minute changes, this can be difficult when it is too close to the end. If someone is helping you get into your outfit, you want their makeup to be done as well for those getting ready photos. No need to stress-- I will help you with your timeline!
